well designed great price

I recently bought two of the Pescador 10 kayaks after extensive research. Standard on this kayak, unlike others are a seat with adjustable back support, two dry seal "hatch" covers, four handles (not the usual two), drain plug, recessed storage area with bungee, rod holder, molded foot rests, cup holder that holds a can or bottle in a foam coolie, an elastic band w/clip to secure your paddle and lots of eyelets to secure gear. I live in the Keys on a canal that is 20' deep. I get on the kayak by stepping onto my swim ladder and sit on the kayak sideways and swing my legs into the boat. It is wide enough so it stays stable and not prone to tip. I have had other kayaks that were more narrow and entry was more of a challenge. The open storage area is plenty big to keep a PFD as well as a small cooler for adult beverages. I am 5-10 175 and it is a very dry ride. At 52 lbs it is easy to get in and out of the water. As I said earlier, for a 10' kayak it is wide. This makes it stable and dry but has an effect on tracking. A little more attention to paddle technique and it is easily corrected. After the third time out I don't even think about it. I have had it out in 15mph winds on open water with a 1' chop and was satisfied with the boat. Winds higher than that and you shouldn't be out in open water. It should be a lot of fun in the windy winter months to go canal crawling and visit the neighbors. I would recommend this to someone who wants a fun kayak at an affordable price.

Great buy !!

I did quite a bit of research before making this purchase. I was a little bit confused when I couldn't locate the kayak on Perception's web sight. I finally discovered that this Kayak is very similar to a much more expensive Widerness Tarpon. After looking at a few comparison photos of both I went forward with this purchase. For some reason the yellow color was offered at about $50.00 less than the other colors. I wasn't that concerned about color so I went ahead with the yellow. When it arrived I was pleased to see that it wasn't too bright and was a bit speckled. I really like this kayak. The comfort seating system (CSS) is great. There is no hastle storing and installing a seat (like my perception Tribe) and it is very solid. I also dicovered that the seating components are replaceable. There is absolutely no need to re-adjust the seat while on the water. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I felt it wasn't as stable as I anticipated. One of the previous reviewers, who was heavier than me (I weigh 190lbs), indicated that he felt it was very stable. Oh, well...I'll get used to it.

This kayak is a real bargain for the price. I actually have two of these. The weight at 52# is about the max for one person to carry comfortably. Very well designed, comfortable, easy to paddle and tracks extremely well for a 10 foot boat. Love it! Amazon has the best deal around on these, plus FREE shipping.
