5Like the old family station wagon
By DanG
When you buy a tandem, you pretty much know you're not getting a sleek rapid shooting missile. For me, as long as I'm buying a tandem, I might as well embrace the size and weight of it. It is as long as my car, weighs 80lbs and be a challenge to muscle around.

The size/weight can be largely overcome with the proper rack setup and a good kayak cart. Once these issues have been addressed, you can then reap all the benifits of the size and weight in the water. I have found it to be very stable all around, with proper paddling skills it can maneuver just fine.

The size shines when it comes to comfort and storage. We are planning on doing some kayak camping and there is plenty of room for camping gear and food storage. For our intended use of a kayak, I say go big or go home!

Regarding getting this at Amazon, it's a no brainer! Shipping was free and the price was below average, with both considered it's literally hard to find a better deal out there.

Happy kayaking!

5Our new station wagon
By Life is good
We just took our Old Town out on the pond today. My wife, our 4 year old and myself. We were under spec weight and at about 345lbs. At first paddle, I expected next to nothing to happen with so much weight but the kayak seemed to take off at about the same clip I am used to. We had a great time paddling around. The only issue I have with this boat is its weight but that is to be expected. If my bathroom scale is correct it weighs 84lbs. On first try, I could not lift it over my head and onto the roof of our Honda CRV. 84lbs doesn't sound like a lot but it's bulky and hard to hang on to. After surveying the situation for a minute or two, I stood on a milk crate and managed to load it onto the roof alone. It is what it is, if that cliche makes any sense to you. With a 4 and 10 year old, I'm at a point in life where storage, space and size matters. This kayak should serve us nicely and we should have a lot of fun with it.

5Outstanding Kayak
By Lem
I got this because my wife and I wanted to get back into kayaking now that we live in the Hampton roads area of VA where there is water EVERYWHERE. Its a good value, not super expensive yet comes with all the features you could need.

Pros:
Stable
Tracks well
Great storage
Adjustable, comfortable seating
Well constructed design
Quite durable

Cons:
Little on the heavy side, not the easiest thing to put on the wall hooks or the top of the car by myself, but its manageable. And plenty easy to do with someone helping you.
